These wounds are a slow burn
No words to capture the flames
Licking on the inside
Layers and centuries
The unkempt magnitude
A soul in a vacuum
Tearing limb from limb
The plans laid in vain
Time has been kind to us
As blood from the bear's mouth
Falling in place
A frantic immediacy
Precludes all that we see
What can't be outrun
We all will face
It seems almost gradual
The disintegration
Of each opportunity
Cast out and let go
So much is wasted
The chances untaken
The forest is endless
As far as we know
Time has been kind to us
As blood from the bear's mouth
Falling in place
A frantic immediacy
Precludes all that we see
What can't be outrun
We all will face

A Home For The Children

A home for the children
Let them rest and be fulfilled
And reach for better heights than we could both attain
As they grow older may they come to understand
That we did everything we could to hide the pain
When they sleep we'll only hope the walls are thick enough
To cover up the sound of love's decay
Waking to find two ghosts that once knew such affection
Tied together too afraid to separate
If we had half the strength to run right back to you
You'd only say it was the best that you could do
To keep us safe you only left us in the cold
Our side of the story's growing old
And even years removed we still can't silence all the screams of agony that burrowed in our heads
Try as you might we always knew that you were torn between two worlds that coexisted in one bed
Your grievances became our greatest fears and we still think about the times it could've all come to an end
Every second felt like just a momentary calm before the storm would come to tear us down again
If we had half the strength to run right back to you
You'd only say it was the best that you could do
To keep us safe you only left us in the cold
Our side of the story's growing old
Don't say that you had no other choice
A part of us died to save your union
I hope that hindsight serves you well
Married us into hell
If we had half the strength to run right back to you
You'd only say it was the best that you could do
To keep us safe you only left us in the cold
Our side of the story's growing old

When you left last night
With your heart dragging out on the floor
I caught you tasting shorter breaths with every second
Till your eyes weren't moving anymore
We always knew it wasn't fair
The unborn child we could never find
Knowing with every mistake you inherit another point of view
Like a bullet of cold indifference soaring out from the back of your mind
The timing was enough to break your wings
You'd rather not remember all those little things
You fell a little faster every day
You tried with everything to never let that feeling go away
But please
Vivian
Would it be so bad to know the world was kind
If you lived
To see again
Would you think twice to leave it all behind
Don't say you'll never make it now
Believing that you've broken somehow
You'll hate her till the day you can't see
Cause she's everything you wanted
Is it everything you wanted to be?
